Welcome to The Pretty Goose

Have I told you the story of my business name? It came to me at a time when I didn’t want to use my real name because it represented a painful part of my story. I felt tainted by it and I wanted my business to be completely me, joyful and creative. The Pretty Goose just popped into my mind one day and I loved it.

THE INSPIRATION

To some degree I can trace it back to this Curly Girl Design card. It's a brand that uses art, whimsy and great quotes to make beautiful, inspiring products. I’ve loved this one for years. Look closely. It's so funny and inspiring!

SEEING MYSELF IN THE NAME

I’ve chosen many paths in my life that did not meet enthusiastic approval from my family or friends. Following Jesus in college, having 5 children, homeschooling, moving to new places, joining a network marketing company when my kids were little to earn extra money, building an online course business, taking night classes to get my interior design certificate, becoming a life coach, and attending trainings and conferences to learn whatever I was interested in next - real estate investing, interior design, color theory, business marketing, etc…

Here’s what I’ve learned from doing all those “CRAZY” things: They all made me more of who God created me to be. The more I lean into my creativity and curiosity, the more joy I bring back to my home and relationships. 

And so the name The Pretty Goose made sense to me, a reminder that your dreams are never silly (though people around you might think so at times). They actually make the world more beautiful. 

IT'S YOUR TURN

Becoming who YOU are meant to be might not look like trying lots of things like me, but it DOES involve listening to your intuition, believing that your contribution matters; knowing that your gifts are needed - in your home and for your neighbor. We need YOU - fully alive, purposeful and present. 

The Pretty Goose exists to encourage you to take action on those dreams. Everything I offer is basically COACHING to help you know what you want and take action to create it.

It’s like a magazine - you can read the ones that fit you now. 

The little secret? 

It all goes together. 

Here’s an example. I was sharing with some homeschool moms this week about our tradition of listening to Handel’s Messiah leading up to Christmas. (We got this idea from Cindy Rollins.) We would read the scripture and then listen to the tracks where the choir sings those words. The fruit of that is that now, not only do my children have those words tucked away in their hearts and minds but so do I, and that music is a comfort to us as adults. In other words, it now makes our HOME and LIFE rich. 

So take action on what your intuition, that still small voice, the Holy Spirit is whispering. It matters, your contribution is crucial, we need YOU, fully alive in your gifts and purpose.
