Being Bright Green in a Dull Landscape - Daring to offer your gifts to a world that needs your lightFeb 01, 2023
Bright green in the dull landscape - God did that. Why? Why did he make some plants different? Why do they flourish and shine in a different way, at a different time, unlike every other plant in the landscape?
And what do you think when you see them? How do you feel?
We don’t look out there at those plants, doing their unique thing and think, “Who do you think you are?”
Rather, I kind of think, “Well, I’ll be…. Look at YOU?! Thank you.”
So…. why are we afraid to offer our gifts to the world? Why do we hope to blend in? Why do we shy from attention? Why are we so determined to be like everyone else? Do you think the brown limelight hydrangea is criticizing the daffodils right now? Are ugly dahlia bulbs, buried in dirt complaining about the striking leaves and berries showing off above them?
Of course not. At the risk of personifying too much, I like to think that they are inspired. They are encouraged. They see what’s possible and they know that their time will come too.
So, what are you waiting for? Please, please be YOU - please don’t hold out on us. Share your beautiful gifts with the world. Show up, as only you can! We need you, your people need you.
